In and Around — Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 15 September 2026 · Last updated: 15 September 2026
1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of In and Around, including the In and Around website, progressive web application, mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).
In these Terms, “In and Around”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the operator of the In and Around Platform.
- Operator:
- Sekonyela Mokoena
- Contact email:
- sekonyelacm@gmail.com
- Country of operation:
- South Africa
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the Platform.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or restrict any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
2. What In and Around does
In and Around is a local discovery platform that helps users discover events, venues, restaurants, nightlife, attractions, community activities and other places or experiences.
Depending on the features available at the time, the Platform may allow users to search and filter events, view place information, save events and places, indicate interest in events, receive event reminders, receive relevant weather information relating to upcoming events, leave reviews, submit feedback and contribute information or content.
Some events, venues, services, advertisements, tickets or offers displayed on In and Around are supplied or operated by independent third parties.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, In and Around is not the organiser, owner or operator of those third-party events, businesses or venues.
3. Accounts and Google sign-in
Certain Platform features require an account.
In and Around currently uses Google authentication. When you choose to sign in with Google, Google verifies your identity and provides us with the account information necessary to operate your In and Around account.
You are responsible for maintaining control of your Google account and devices.
You must not impersonate another person, create accounts for fraudulent purposes or attempt to access another user's account.
We may restrict or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to protect users, the Platform or third parties from abuse, fraud, security threats or serious violations of these Terms.
4. Event and place information
We try to provide useful and current information, but event and place information can change.
Dates, times, prices, venues, performers, availability, opening hours, ticket availability and other details may be changed by organisers or businesses without notice to us.
You should verify important information with the relevant organiser, venue, business or ticket provider before travelling, purchasing tickets or making other arrangements.
Where information is marked as estimated, inferred, “TBC”, pending verification or similar, you should treat it accordingly.
If you identify inaccurate information, you may report it to us.
5. Third-party services and links
The Platform may link to third-party websites or services, including event organisers, ticketing providers, venues, businesses, mapping services or other external providers.
Those third parties operate independently and may have their own terms, privacy policies, refund policies and other rules.
Following an external link does not mean that In and Around controls or guarantees the third-party service.
Where a purchase takes place entirely through a third-party provider, the contractual relationship concerning that transaction is generally between you and that provider unless we expressly state otherwise.
6. Saved events, reminders and notifications
Users may be able to save events and request reminders.
Reminders and push notifications are convenience features. Delivery may be affected by your device, browser, operating system, notification permissions, internet connection, service interruptions or changes to an event.
You should not rely on an In and Around reminder as the sole means of remembering an important event or obligation.
Notification permission is optional and can be managed through your device or browser settings.
7. Location features
Features such as Near Me may use location information from your device after you choose to grant permission.
Location access is optional.
Refusing location permission will not prevent you from using the general event and place discovery features of the Platform.
Location results and calculated distances are approximate and should not be relied upon for emergency, safety-critical or precision-navigation purposes.
8. Weather information
Where available, In and Around may display or include weather information relevant to an event.
Weather information is provided for convenience and may come from an external weather service.
Forecasts can change and may be inaccurate.
You remain responsible for checking appropriate weather information and making reasonable decisions regarding travel, clothing, safety and attendance.
9. Reviews and community contributions
Where community features are available, users may submit reviews, ratings, photos, event information, corrections, place suggestions or other contributions.
You remain responsible for content you submit.
You must only submit content that you have the right to provide and that does not unlawfully infringe another person's copyright, privacy, reputation or other rights.
You may not submit content that is fraudulent, deliberately misleading, unlawfully discriminatory, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, malicious, spam, unrelated to the relevant place/event, or otherwise unlawful.
Reviews should reflect genuine experiences or opinions.
10. Licence for submitted public content
When you submit content intended for publication on In and Around, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, format and display that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the Platform.
You retain ownership of content you own.
This licence does not give us ownership of your original content.
If your account is later deleted, public contributions that are retained may be irreversibly anonymised as described below.
11. Moderation
User submissions do not necessarily become public immediately.
We may review, approve, reject, edit for formatting, restrict or remove submissions where reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, maintain data quality, enforce these Terms, respond to complaints or comply with law.
We are not obliged to publish every submission.
Repeated abuse of community features may result in restrictions or account suspension.
12. Photos
You should not upload images that you do not have permission or legal authority to submit.
Photos should be relevant to the venue, event or subject being documented.
You should avoid using identifiable individuals as the primary subject of a venue photograph without appropriate permission.
We may remove an image if we reasonably believe that it infringes copyright, privacy rights, these Terms or applicable law.
13. Feedback and suggestions
If you send feedback, report a bug or suggest a feature, we may use that feedback to improve In and Around.
You should not include passwords, authentication tokens, financial credentials or unnecessary sensitive personal information in feedback submissions.
Submitting an idea does not create an obligation for us to implement or pay for that idea.
14. Account deletion
You may request deletion of your In and Around account through Account settings.
When you confirm an account deletion request:
- Your account is scheduled for permanent deletion and you are signed out.
- A 7-day grace period begins.
- If you sign in during that period, normal Platform access is restricted and you may either cancel the deletion request or sign out again.
- If you cancel before the deletion deadline, normal account access is restored.
Once the grace period has expired, your account becomes eligible for permanent deletion. Because deletion jobs may run on a schedule, technical completion may occur after the exact expiry time.
15. What happens to your information when your account is deleted
Private account information associated with your account is permanently removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Certain public contributions may be retained where they remain useful to the community, but they will be anonymised so they are no longer linked to your deleted account.
For example, a retained review may display its author as:
“Deleted user”
We do not maintain a hidden reversible account mapping solely for the purpose of identifying the former author after anonymisation.
16. Prohibited use
You must not misuse the Platform by attempting to compromise accounts or systems, bypass access controls, scrape or overload the Platform in an abusive manner, introduce malicious code, manipulate reviews or popularity metrics, submit fraudulent events, exploit other users, or use the Platform for unlawful purposes.
Reasonable ordinary use of publicly accessible features is permitted.
17. Intellectual property
The In and Around name, visual identity, software, interface, original text, design and other proprietary Platform materials may be protected by intellectual-property law.
Third-party business names, logos, event artwork, photographs and other content remain the property of their respective owners where applicable.
You may not falsely represent yourself as In and Around or reproduce our protected materials in a manner that infringes our rights.
18. Sponsored and promoted content
In and Around may in future display promoted events, sponsored businesses, advertising or other paid placements.
Where reasonably necessary, commercial or sponsored placements will be identified as such.
Payment for promotion does not give an advertiser the right to manipulate independent user reviews or require us to publish misleading information.
19. Ticketing and payments
In and Around may introduce ticket purchasing, organiser tools and payment services in the future.
Until those features are expressly made available, references to future ticketing functionality do not constitute an offer to process ticket transactions.
When In and Around begins processing ticket purchases directly, additional ticketing terms covering payment processing, organiser responsibilities, refunds, cancellations, fees, chargebacks, event postponements and ticket validity may apply.
Those additional terms must be presented before a user is bound by the relevant transaction.
20. Availability of the Platform
We aim to keep In and Around available, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
We may perform maintenance, introduce new features, discontinue features, correct data or temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary.
We will try to avoid unnecessary disruption.
21. Liability
In and Around is responsible for its own obligations to the extent required by applicable law.
We are not responsible for losses caused solely by the independent actions of third-party event organisers, venues or external services that we do not control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or consumer rights where doing so would be prohibited by applicable South African law.
The Consumer Protection Act protects consumers against unfair, unreasonable and unjust terms and against certain attempts to make consumers waive rights unfairly.
22. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves.
If a change materially affects your rights or the way an important service operates, we may provide additional notice through the Platform.
The latest version and effective date will be available through Account settings → Legal → Terms & Conditions.
23. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Nothing in this clause prevents a consumer from exercising rights available under applicable consumer-protection legislation.
